The Sony Vaio Computer Gaming Experience

October 8th, 2011

When most people think of video games, they typically think of the Sony PlayStation, Microsoft Xbox or even the Nintendo Wii. However, there is an entire world of gaming outside of platforms, as computer systems often offer video games not available on these systems. There are literally dozens of different Windows based computers that are capable of playing back video games, including Sony’s Vaio lineup of computers. When using a Sony Vaio though, you need to check a few specs before you are completely able to play the video game.

Unlike video game platforms, computers do not have the same specs, so video games do not all perform the same on the systems. If you keep your computer up to date this typically isn’t a problem, although that does become rather expensive. When using a Sony Vaio, you need to check your system specs before using any video game on the computer.

Power on the Sony computer, then click “Start,” “Computer” and select “System Preferences.” This loads a window displaying all the current hardware you have running on the computer. Leave this window open and inspect the required hardware on the “System Requirements” label of the desired video game. Your Sony Vaio computer must meet or exceed all of these specs in order to play the game. If the system doesn’t, the game is not going to function properly and may just freeze up every time you attempt to install and run the game.

Once the game is installed and running on the Sony Vaio computer you have a few viewing options available to you (depending on how old your computer is). You can use the standard VGA monitor connection, or for high definition video on an HDTV, you can hook up the computer and TV with an HDMI cable.
